SLB wins $1.5-billion contract for Kuwait field development
KUWAIT CITY, February 3, 2026 – SLB has secured a USD 1.5-billion integrated development contract from Kuwait Oil Company for the next phase of the Mutriba onshore field, the company said on Tuesday.
The five-year deal includes full responsibility for the design, development and production management of the northwest Kuwait field, which contains high-pressure, high-temperature reservoirs with sour conditions. The scope builds on SLB’s prior work and deep subsurface knowledge of the asset.
The project aims to accelerate development of technically complex resources in remote areas while improving capital efficiency and environmental performance.
Output of up to 120,000 bopd is expected at the field.
“As development of the Mutriba field moves into its next stage, we are taking on end-to-end responsibility to support safe, reliable execution in complex reservoir conditions,” SLB executive vice-president Steve Gassen said.
In Kuwait, SLB provides drilling, well construction and digital solutions to support upstream development and enhance reservoir performance.
