Saudi Arabia’s Acwa signs 27 deals across energy, water and AI

RIYADH, February 2, 2026 – Acwa has signed 27 partnerships and launched a global capability-building platform to accelerate green hydrogen, energy storage, desalination and AI-powered technologies at Innovation Days 2026 in Riyadh, the company announced on Monday.

In green hydrogen, agreements include an ammonia technology partnership with Danish catalysis firm Topsoe for the Yanbu Green Hydrogen Project and a technology and research collaboration with Baker Hughes at the Yanbu Hydrogen Innovation Hub for hydrogen compression and integrated energy systems.

In energy storage, Acwa will explore applications for technologies from Malta, Electrified Thermal Solutions and Noon Energy, while in the industrial and digital space, the company will collaborate with Aramco Digital on AI, data analytics and cybersecurity tools for energy and water systems.

Under the agreements, Acwa will also pilot reverse osmosis membranes from NexT Membranes and Harmony Desalting, and will help advance vapour compression desalination technology from Water Global Access towards commercial deployment.

“The 27 new partnerships signed highlight Saudi Arabia’s growing impact on energy, water security, and industrial decarbonization. Acwa is dedicated to connecting Saudi ambition with global innovation,” said Acwa CEO Marco Arcelli.

Acwa aims to fast-track the deployment of the technologies through pilot plants, backed by international R&D investments and talent development.
