Moho licence in the Republic of Congo yields fresh discovery

POINTE-NOIRE, April 13, 2026 – TotalEnergies and QatarEnergy have made a hydrocarbons discovery in the Moho licence offshore the Republic of Congo, the companies announced on Monday.

The MHNM-6 NFW exploration well targeting the Moho G structure encountered a hydrocarbons column of approximately 160 meters, the companies said. Together with an earlier discovery in the Moho F structure, recoverable resources are estimated at close to 100 million barrels.

The volumes are expected to be developed through a tie-back to the Alima and Likouf FPUs, which are currently producing at an average rate of around 90,000 boepd.

“This discovery on the Moho licence benefits from its proximity to existing production infrastructure, allowing a short-cycle, cost-effective tie-back development. By leveraging our technical expertise and existing infrastructure, we are creating the conditions for future value-accretive production,” said Nicola Mavilla, senior vice-president of exploration at TotalEnergies.

The Moho licence is operated by TotalEnergies EP Congo (TEPC) with a 63.5% interest, with partners Trident Energy (21.5%) and the Société Nationale des Pétroles du Congo (15%). QatarEnergy holds a 15% stake in TEPC.

TotalEnergies’ portfolio in the Republic of Congo includes stakes in the Moho Nord, Moho-Bilondo, Nkossa, Nsoko II, Yanga, Sendji and Nzombo fields. The company also operates the Djéno oil terminal.
