Angolas Zillian launches Self-Service and Request Management portals

Angola’s Zillian launches Self-Service and Request Management portals

July 19, 2022

Angolan insurance and reinsurance broker Zillian has launched its Self-Service and Request Management portals to connect with its clients and raise the bar for customer services. General manager Tiago Dá Mesquita announced the launch at the official presentation of the brand to clients and the insurance market in two events in Luanda.

The Self-Service portal allows customers to access all information about policies, payments and claims, while the Request Management portal tracks the status of each order. Both portals are now available 24 hours a day, seven days a week via internet browser or the company’s mobile app.

The creation of the Zillian brand resulted from a management buyout of Aon Angola led by Dá Mesquita, who retained his position in the new phase of the company. The move follows a strategic decision by Aon to change its operating model and the shareholder structure of its entities in 10 countries in sub-Saharan Africa. The move positions Zillian as Aon’s exclusive correspondent in Angola, with the responsibility to continue supporting Aon’s multinational clients in Angola in the management of their insurance risks and programmes.

“With the Self-Service and Request Management portals, we aim to contribute decisively to the continuous improvement of our customers’ experience,” Dá Mesquita said. “Our name and brand refer to the idea of resilience. Our path is to make our customers resilient and thrive in even the most adverse conditions.”

“One of the positive consequences of the recent changes to our shareholder structure is related to the local content law in the oil sector,” he said.

The local content law was approved in 2020 and complemented in 2021 through an exclusivity regime published by the National Oil, Gas and Biofuels Agency (<a href='https://theenergyyear.com/companies-institutions/anpg/’>ANPG) that establishes that insurance mediation for companies in the oil sector can only be provided by companies with 100% Angolan capital, such as Zillian.

Zillian’s first event, held on June 17, was opened by Silvano Adriano, director of the studies office at the Angolan Insurance Regulatory and Supervision Agency (ARSEG). On behalf of its board of directors, he expressed that the change was “a vehicle to communicate to the market the continuity of a strong and competitive brand.”

Adriano urged Zillian to contribute to financial education in Angola as part of a joint initiative of the three Angolan regulators of the financial sector: ARSEG, National Bank of Angola (BNA) and the Capital Markets Commission (CMC).

Pedro Penalva, CEO of Aon for Iberia, Africa and Israel, participated virtually in both events. He reiterated Aon’s unchanged trust in Zillian’s team and leadership and its strong commitment to Africa and Angola. Penalva said Aon will continue to support Zillian with the continuous training of its professionals, availability of innovative insurance products and privileged access to the main international insurance and reinsurance markets.
