ExxonMobil Angola joins the Angola Energy Leaders Summit as a Silver Sponsor
September 11, 2025The Energy Year is proud to announce that ExxonMobil has joined the Angola Energy Leaders Summit as a Silver Sponsor.
ExxonMobil has been a cornerstone of Angola’s oil and gas sector for more than three decades, playing an important role in developing the country’s offshore resources and contributing to its position as one of Africa’s leading crude oil producers.
Over the years, ExxonMobil has demonstrated a long-term commitment to Angola through sustained investment, technology transfer and partnerships with local players. Its portfolio includes the operatorship of Block 15, one of Angola’s most productive deepwater developments, and participation in other strategic assets, such as blocks 17 and 32, through joint ventures. These assets contain world-class development opportunities and have a gross recoverable resource potential of approximately 10 billion boe.
In July 2025, ExxonMobil scored an extension of a production sharing contract (PSC) for deepwater Block 15, with a production period extended until 2037. According to Katrina Fisher, Managing Director of ExxonMobil Angola, the company has invested more than USD 12 billion in the PSC for 30 years, with over 2.5 billion barrels of oil produced.
As a partner for Angola’s oil and gas sector, ExxonMobil continues to align its operations with Angola’s production optimisation and gas monetisation strategies. The company has been actively engaged in discussions on extending the life of mature assets, reducing emissions from operations and evaluating new development opportunities in collaboration with the National Oil, Gas and Biofuels Agency (ANPG) and its joint-venture partners.
In addition to its upstream portfolio, ExxonMobil supports local capacity-building initiatives, training Angolan professionals and investing in community development projects in the areas of education, health and economic diversification.
The Angola Energy Leaders Summit
Taking place on December 2 in Luanda, and held with the support of the ANPG, the summit will bring together Angola’s most senior energy executives and global investors.
This year’s edition is particularly significant as Angola celebrates 50 years of independence. The summit will spotlight the energy sector’s role in driving socioeconomic progress, fostering innovation and securing Angola’s place as a regional energy leader.
By joining as a Silver Sponsor, ExxonMobil reaffirms its dedication to Angola’s energy future, supporting industry dialogue, investment and the responsible development of the country’s hydrocarbon resources.
