Arabian Rig Manufacturing

Located in Ras Al Khair, Arabian Rig Manufacturing (ARM) is a joint venture between Saudi Aramco and NOV that combines the exploration and production capabilities of Aramco and the technology and manufacturing expertise of NOV. The company manufactures complete land rigs, rig equipment and offshore drilling packages.

ARM’s integrated facility is the largest of its kind worldwide and includes:

• Two-story office block
• Climate-controlled machine shop
• Aftermarket repair shop
• Blast and paint building
• Rig pad
• Warehouse with cold room
• Fabrication shop
• Training centre

This integrated facility allows the company to build 10 land rigs per year, including 1,500-hp, 2,000-hp and 3,000-hp rigs.

ARM’s aim is to introduce world-class manufacturing to Saudi Arabia, and it represents the anchor manufacturing project for the country. The company delivered its first three rigs in 2023 and aims to produce 100 rigs in the next 10 years, 50 for SANAD and another 50 for several drilling contractors. Its successful localisation of manufacturing supports the three pillars of the Saudi Vision 2030: a vibrant society, a thriving economy and an ambitious nation.
