Grupo Idesa

Grupo Idesa is a Mexican company that produces, markets and distributes chemical and petrochemical products. Through group companies, Grupo Idesa is also involved in the production, storage, distribution and transformation of hydrocarbons. The Group is divided into four operating divisions:

• Petrochemicals. Through Idesa Petroquímicos, Grupo Idesa manufactures products for industrial applications including ethanolamines, ethylene glycols, expandable polystyrene and propylene glycols. They are commercialised in Mexico, North and Latin America, Europe and Asia.
• Distribution. Headed up by Alveg, this division markets and distributes to companies in the industrial chemicals, plastics and automotive sectors, and to consumers of oil and gas drilling fluids and muds.
• Logistics. Through Excellence Sea & Land Logistics, the Group offers road and maritime transportation services for liquid and dry cargoes as well as storage of dangerous chemicals and hydrocarbons.
• Construction applications. In partnership with Canadian petrochemicals company Nova Chemicals, Grupo Idesa company Novidesa manufactures and commercialises materials and advanced components for the construction sector, such as expandable polystyrene and insulation materials

Grupo Idesa owns industrial facilities in Coatzacoalcos, Tlaxcala and Irapuato. The largest is the Coatzacoalcos facility, which was established in partnership with German specialty chemicals company Evonik. It spans 75 hectares and has capacity to produce 220,000 tonnes per year (tpy) of ethylene glycols and 45,000 tpy of ethanolamines

The Group conducts R&D through three Technological Development Centers located in Coatzacoalcos, Irapuato and Tlalnepantla. Structured to carry out product and application development, analytics and process development, they are the arm through which the company develops new value-added products and technologies to improve its offerings as well as the efficiency and sustainability of its manufacturing processes.
