IMP

The Mexican Petroleum Institute (IMP) is a public research centre dedicated to Mexico’s oil and gas sector.

IMP creates solutions for the national and international oil and gas industry based on scientific research and through the development, assimilation and transfer of technology, focused on solving specific problems. Additionally, it provides technological services and products in engineering, exploration, and production, as well as in talent development and specialised training.

IMP’s strategic objectives include:

• Increasing value generation through the development of technologies and solutions that address the needs of the oil industry
• Strengthening the strategic relationship between Pemex and IMP
• Developing the skills of the personnel required by the national hydrocarbons sector and maintaining a culture of inclusion, gender equality and environmental care
• Consolidating IMP as the technical and scientific adviser on the energy industry to the government of Mexico  
• Ensuring financial sustainability by increasing the placement of IMP’s value proposition, considering austerity and efficiency criteria

Moreover, IMP has unique laboratories in Latin America, accredited with national and international standards, technical capacity, fixed and mobile facilities, experimental equipment and specialised human resources. Recently, it inaugurated its Deepwater Technology Center.
