Advanced Petrochemical to add new unit at Jubail complex

Advanced Petrochemical Company (APC) has contracted a consortium of SGC eTEC and SGC Arabia for the construction of a new unit at its PDH-PP complex under development in Jubail Industrial City, Oil & Gas Journal reported on Wednesday.

The complex integrates the production of propane dehydrogenation (PDH), polypropylene (PP) and isopropanol (IPA).

The contract, which was awarded by APC affiliate Advanced Polyolefins Industry Co., is valued at around USD 191.3 million and covers EPC services for the IPA unit, which is expected to produce 70,000 tonnes per year (tpy).

EPC for the two PP units was awarded to a consortium of Tecnimont SPA and Tecnimont Arabia Ltd. in 2021. Their combined capacity will add 800,000 tpy to APC’s current production of 455,000 tpy of propylene and 450,000 tpy of PP.

Located on Saudi Arabia’s western coast, Jubail Industrial City spans 1,028 kilometres and features some of the largest industrial projects in the world. Managed by the Royal Commission of Jubail, it includes residential, commercial and industrial investments worth around USD 156 billion.
