Alam Maritim wins Petronas FLNG contract

KUALA LUMPUR, October 22, 2015 – Malaysia’s Alam Maritim has secured a MYR53.5-million ($12.5-million) contract from state-owned Petronas for work on its floating LNG (FLNG) facility, the ship operator announced Thursday.

Under the contract, Alam Maritim will carry out final-position works for the vessel, as well as the mooring system hook-up. The company will install flexible risers as well as pre-commission and commission pipelines, the pipeline ends terminal and a riser from the KAKG-A platform to the FLNG vessel.

The contract, which has an April 2016 deadline, follows an earlier deal made in June 2015 that saw Alam Maritim install Petronas FLNG’s mooring system.

The 365-metre Petronas FLNG will be the first FLNG vessel to begin production. The facility is expected to produce 1.2 million tonnes of LNG per year, starting in 2016. The facility is to be located in the Kanowit field, offshore Sarawak at a water depth of about 80 metres.
