Angola’s PetroWork Solution enters Guyana, targets Suriname
GEORGETOWN, May 8, 2025 – Angolan energy services firm PetroWork Solution has announced its expansion into Guyana and plans to enter Suriname, making it the first African oil and gas services company to enter Guyana’s offshore market, the company said Wednesday.
The announcement was made during the Offshore Technology Conference (OTC) in Houston and highlighted at a Georgetown Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GCCI) event attended by international investors and Guyanese business leaders. PetroWork Solution’s expansion into Guyana is backed by a local consortium featuring Dr Roshan Khan, Mahaish Ramoutar and American investor Arick Wierson, who have been planning the initiative for over a year.

“We see many parallels between Angola’s early deepwater journey and what’s unfolding now in Guyana,” PetroWork Solution CEO Valentin Malinescu said.
“The Guyanese government has created a uniquely welcoming environment for foreign investment. We’re proud to bring our experience to help support this next phase of growth – not just in Guyana, but across the region.”
“This isn’t just an investment. It’s a bridge between continents,” PetroWork Solution local partner Dr. Roshan Khan said.
The move is seen as a milestone in Guyana’s South-South investment diplomacy, supported by the pro-business agenda of President Irfaan Ali’s government. “To see a company like PetroWork Solution – delivering top-tier services in Angola – now planting roots in Guyana shows that our investment landscape is not only open, but globally competitive and diverse,” Guyana Office for Investment CEO Dr. Peter Ramsaroop said.
PetroWork Solution’s regional plan will include a full suite of offshore and onshore services powered by a workforce drawn from Angola and other Global South nations, aligning with Guyana’s evolving local content strategy.
Guyana’s oil and gas sector has seen rapid development since the first major offshore discovery in the Stabroek Block by ExxonMobil in 2015. The country is now producing over 600,000 barrels of oil per day and is poised to exceed 1 million barrels per day by 2027, with active participation from major operators such as ExxonMobil, Hess and CNOOC.
The government is pursuing aggressive local content initiatives, while promoting investment in supporting infrastructure including FPSOs, shore bases, and pipeline projects. Licensing rounds and continued offshore exploration have positioned Guyana as one of the most dynamic and promising oil and gas frontiers globally.
