Aquadrill to sell rig for works offshore Brazil

Aquadrill has signed a memorandum of agreement with Brazilian E&P player Petro Rio for the sale of the semi-submersible Capricorn rig for USD 40 million, the UK-based offshore drilling unit operator announced on Tuesday.

Under the agreement, USD 4 million is expected to be paid by June 22, 2022. Full balance is due on delivery and completion of the sale by August 5, 2022.

The Capricorn asset is currently stored in Aruba and is expected to move to Brazil for work on Petro Rio’s mature fields on the Campos basin.

Seadrill Partners changed its name to Aquadrill after emerging from bankruptcy in 2021.
