Baker Hughes to supply gas turbines for US data centres
HOUSTON, March 13, 2025 – Baker Hughes has secured an order from Canadian company Turbine-X for gas turbine technology to be deployed in multiple data centre projects underway in North America, Baker Hughes announced on Thursday.
Turbine-X supplies industrial gas turbine packages in combined cycle configurations for US data centre project developers. Under the terms of the deal, the company will utilise Baker Hughes’s NovaLT technology and associated equipment, including gears and power generation systems, in upcoming projects.
“Due to surging demand for generative AI, we see increasing opportunities for our power generation solutions to support behind-the-meter power requirements for data centres. We are ready to drive progress at scale, leveraging our expertise and network of strategic partners to quickly provide market-ready reliable, flexible and efficient solutions to partners in the data centre market,” said Ganesh Ramaswamy, executive vice-president of Industrial & Energy Technology at Baker Hughes.
The NovaLT gas turbine is a multi-fuel system that can run on natural gas, various blends of natural gas and hydrogen and 100% hydrogen.
