Baker Hughes wins Guyana chemicals contract from ExxonMobil
GEORGETOWN, February 3, 2025 – Baker Hughes has been awarded a contract by ExxonMobil to provide speciality chemicals for two FPSOs set for deployment in Guyana’s prolific Stabroek block, the US energy technology company said on Monday.
The multi-year contract includes all topsides, subsea, water injection and utility chemicals for the Errea Wittu and Jaguar FPSO vessels, which are currently under development and are targeted to begin production in 2026 and 2027, respectively.
The value of the contract was not specified.
The company highlighted its “extensive” experience in Guyana and its development of “local supply chains to create a reliable and efficient source of chemicals to address the unique needs of these developments.”
ExxonMobil made a game-changing discovery in the Stabroek block in 2015, which, together with subsequent discoveries, has transformed Guyana into a global oil and gas hotspot.
The FPSOs will be deployed to the company’s Uaru and Whiptail projects – its fifth and sixth project in the country.
Each vessel will have a capacity of 250,000 bopd. One on line, they will bring Guyana’s production capacity to around 1.3 million bopd.
