BHP to drill off Trinidad

HOUSTON, March 16, 2018 – BHP Billiton is planning to drill three wells offshore Trinidad and Tobago as oil and gas exploration in the twin island nation gradually picks up, international media reported on Friday.

“In Trinidad our plan is to do three wells back to back, one south, one north and then one south,” Niall McCormack, the super-major’s vice-president for global exploration, told journalists on the sidelines of the CERAWeek conference in Houston.

“We see a significant demand for gas, for LNG, coming in the 2020s, both from a global perspective and also from a perspective in Trinidad, be that from both the local [petrochemical industry], and from an Atlantic LNG perspective,” he added.
