Cameroon awards offshore blocks to Murphy, Octavia

YAOUNDé, April 27, 2026 – Cameroon’s Société Nationale des Hydrocarbures has awarded five oil and gas blocks to Octavia Energy Corporation and Murphy West Africa as part of its latest upstream licensing round, the African Energy Chamber reported on Monday.
The awards move five of the nine blocks offered in the 2025 round to PSC negotiations. Octavia was awarded the Bolongo Exploration block in the Rio del Rey basin, while Murphy secured the Etinde Exploration, Tilapia, Elombo and Ntem blocks in the offshore Douala/Kribi-Campo area.
The Ndian River, Bakassi, Bomono and Kombe-Nsepe blocks remain on offer.
“Cameroon is demonstrating once again that it is open for business and serious about unlocking its oil and gas potential. Licensing rounds like this are essential to bringing in the capital, technology and expertise needed to develop resources efficiently and responsibly,” said NJ Ayuk, executive chairman of the African Energy Chamber.
Listed in New York, Murphy Oil is an independent oil and natural gas E&P company with onshore and offshore operations in the US, Canada, Vietnam and Côte d’Ivoire. London-based Octavia Energy is an oil and gas company with operations in Egypt and Yemen.
