Cheniere to sell 24 LNG cargoes to EDF

USA

HOUSTON, September 22, 2015 – LNG exporter Cheniere Energy will sell as many as 24 cargoes to France’s EDF between 2017 and 2018.

The deal adds to a 2014 agreement for the sale of 26 LNG cargoes through 2018.

The US company said on Monday that the cargoes would be sold for a price aligned with the Dutch Title Transfer Facility trading point.

Cheniere’s first LNG export plant is slated to begin operations in December of this year. Located on the US Gulf Coast, the Sabine Pass LNG Terminal is expected to have four trains on line in 2015, with construction beginning on a further two in the third quarter of 2015.

EDF, a French energy utility, recently constructed a new LNG terminal at Dunkirk through subsidiary Dunkerque LNG.
