Colombian pipeline attacked twice in one night
BOGOTÁ, January 10, 2019 – The Caño Limón-Coveñas pipeline was bombed overnight in two different locations in Colombia’s Antioquia department, causing an oil spill, international media reported on Wednesday.
The attacks in the towns of La Pesquera and Las Bancas bring the total number of incidents at the Ecopetrol-operated pipeline to three in just the first 10 days of the year.
In 2018, Caño Limón-Coveñas was bombed a total of 89 times.
Ecopetrol has not publicly named the assailants, but members of the guerrilla National Liberation Army are widely assumed to be behind the attacks.
