Cooper ready to test new well

Australian company Cooper Energy announced Monday it was ready to conduct a flow test of its Bunian-4 well in South Sumatra, Indonesia. The well has reached a depth of 1,744 metres and has intersected its target, the TRM3 sandstone oil reserve.

Cooper’s Bunian-4 well, which was spudded in July 2015, is located in the Tangai-Sukananti block, jointly held with independent Indonesian company Mega Adhyaksa Pratama Sukananti. Cooper also reported that it had completed the wireline logging and installation of the production casing and that the well was ready for a flow test.

The Bunian oilfield was discovered in 1998 and has so far produced more than 1 million barrels of oil. Cooper Energy’s Bunian-1 and Bunian-3 wells have a combined output of 650 barrels of oil per day. Production is currently limited by export constraints. The Bunian-3 well, drilled earlier this year, tested at 1,742 barrels of oil per day.

“The preliminary results from Bunian-4 are very encouraging, particularly the TRM3 Sand and the possibility of a new pool discovery in the GRM Sandstone,” Cooper Energy managing director David Maxwell said in a company statement.
