Corcel receives permit for Angola seismic survey and drilling
LUANDA, November 6, 2025 – Corcel has secured full environmental approval to begin seismic acquisition and exploration drilling in the KON-16 onshore block in Angola, the company said on Thursday.
The licence covers both seismic and drilling activities, allowing Corcel to launch a 2D seismic survey of 326 line kilometres and advance towards drilling a high-impact exploration well in the Kwanza basin.
Corcel has signed a contract via its subsidiary Atlas Petroleum Exploration Worldwide with BGP (China National Petroleum Corporation’s seismic arm) for the seismic acquisition and processing. Processing is scheduled for Q1 2026, with initial results expected in Q2/Q3 2026.
“Receiving approval to conduct both seismic acquisition and exploration drilling activities within the KON-16 block is a major milestone for Corcel, setting us on the path to drilling a high-impact exploration well,” Corcel chief operating officer Richard Lane said.
Corcel is a UK-based AIM-listed energy company focused on upstream oil and gas opportunities in Angola and Brazil. In Angola, the company holds operated interests in the onshore Kwanza basin, targeting near-term exploration and development prospects.
