Echo finds more gas in Argentina

BUENOS AIRES, July 9, 2018 – Echo Energy has discovered natural gas at the Fracción D licence in Argentina, the company said in a press release on Monday.

CSo-2001(d), the final well in a four-well drilling campaign, struck a “notable gas column” 1,511 metres into the Upper Jurassic Tobifera formation. Echo “measured 60 metres of gas shows through the Upper Tobífera [with] readings peaking at 168,000 parts per million, with full distribution of C1 to C5 hydrocarbons,” the statement said.

“With the Quintana 01 completion and testing rig mobilising to the area this week, we will be able to test this interval within the forthcoming testing sequence, enabling an early decision to be made on monetisation options in Fracción D,” Echo CEO Fiona MacAulay said.

Fracción D is being developed in a 50-50 partnership by operator Compañía General de Combustibles and Echo, which farmed into the licence in November 2017. The companies discovered hydrocarbons in their adjacent Fracción C block in June, through a well that was part of the same drilling programme.
