Ecopetrol applies for Colombia frack test permit
Colombia The company’s president, Felipe Bayón Pardo, told Reuters the pilot project would target the Tablazo and La Luna formations, which could add 2 billion-7 billion barrels of oil to Colombia’s existing 1.78 billion barrels of 1P reserves.
“The Magdalena Medio [Middle Magdalena] zone has a potential to be determined, but it could continue to help the country’s energy security and self-supply,” Bayón Pardo was quoted by Reuters as saying.
If the environmental licences are granted, the project could begin in 2019.
