Enbridge to build $700 million of pipelines in US Gulf
HOUSTON, October 3, 2024 – Enbridge will build, own and operate oil and gas pipelines worth USD 700 million for BP’s Kaskida project in the US Gulf of Mexico, the Canadian company said on Thursday.
BP reached an FID on the Kaskida project in late July and in September handed a USD 232-million contract to Transocean for the Deepwater Atlas drillship to carry out drilling.
The project’s first phase will include a new floating production platform with the capacity to produce 80,000 bopd from six wells.
Production from the project – BP’s sixth oil and gas hub in the Gulf of Mexico – will commence in 2029.
The project’s crude oil pipeline system, named the Canyon Oil Pipeline System, will be a combination of 24- and 26-inch pipe with a capacity of 200,000 bopd.
The gas pipeline, named the Canyon Gathering System, will be a 12-inch pipeline with a capacity of 125 mcf per day.
Calgary-headquartered Enbridge expects to commence detailed design and procurement activities in early 2025, with the pipelines expected to be operational by 2029.
