Eni ships first LNG cargo from Jangkrik project

MILAN, June 22, 2017 – Eni on Thursday shipped the first LNG cargo produced by the deepwater Jangkrik field off Indonesia, the company said in a press release.

The first shipment was achieved little more than a month following the May 15 inauguration of the project, situated in the Makassar Straight. The field came on stream well ahead of schedule.

Thursday’s 22,500-cubic-metre shipment was liquefied at the Bontang plant and is en route to Bali, where it will be delivered under Eni’s long-term supply contract with Pertamina.

Fifty-five-percent stakeholder and operator Eni will now work to ramp up production from the Jangkrik and Jangkrik North East fields to 12.7 mcm (450 mcf) of natural gas per day. It is in the Jangkrik development by Engie E&P subsidiary GDF Suez (33.334%) and local player Saka Energi Muara Bakau (11.666%).

In other news from Eni, the company said on Thursday it had signed several agreements covering upstream exploration and development and renewable energy in Kazakhstan. Most notably, Eni secured the transfer of 50% of exploration rights in the Isatay Block in the Caspian Sea, where it will drill jointly with national oil company KazMunayGas.
