Eni to double Ghana’s gas output
ACCRA, June 11, 2018 – Eni is expected to begin gas production in Ghana this month, international media reported Friday.
Output from the Sankofa development is expected to begin June 26, Reuters reported. Production is expected to plateau at 5.1 mcm (180 mcf) per day within weeks, doubling the country’s total output.
Ghana primarily uses gas for power generation but fills shortages with light crude. The new supply should be sufficient for the country’s power generation.
“This will sufficiently meet our power needs with some excess for non-power uses,” Ghana Gas CEO Ben Asante told Reuters.
