Erin Energy enlists Pacific Drilling for Nigeria job

HOUSTON, March 7, 2017 – Houston-based independent Erin Energy late on Monday said it had contracted Pacific Drilling for drilling services offshore Nigeria.

Erin will be using the Pacific Bora drilling unit for work on the Oyo-9 well, with the spudding date tentatively scheduled for mid-June. First production is expected in September.

“The execution of this rig contract is an important step in advancing our 2017 work program and our development of the Oyo field in the deepwater offshore Nigeria. We look forward to working closely with Pacific Drilling on this drilling program,” interim CEO Jean-Michel Malek said in a statement.

The agreement with Pacific Drilling includes a contract extension option that, if lifted, would keep the Pacific Bora rig on site for work on two additional wells.
