Explosion reported at Taiwan refinery

Taiwan

TAIPEI, January 29, 2018 – A Taiwanese refinery operated by NOC CPC has experienced a fire and explosions, international media reported on Monday.

No injuries have been reported in the accident, which was brought under control on Monday morning, according to Reuters. While the fire is still under investigation, early reports have suggested a malfunction in a reheating furnace.

Diesel output of 30,000 bpd would be curtailed but a different plant is expected to make up for the loss in local supply, the report added.
