First oil at Malaysia’s Ophir

Malaysia’s offshore Ophir oilfield has achieved first oil, partner Octanex said on Friday.

The field has been producing for 20 out of 25 consecutive days, the company reported in a filing with the Australian Securities Exchange.

“Production during this period has been constrained to a maximum of 3,000 bopd,” the statement said. “A de-bottlenecking phase of commissioning is underway. Octanex expects the first lifting of Ophir crude will occur in December 2017.”

Octanex owns 50% of the Ophir contract, Scomi Energy holds 30% and Petronas subsidiary Vestigo Petroleum holds the remaining 20%.
