Nigeria pipeline

Forcados repairs on track amidst attacks

ABUJA, July 8, 2016 – Pipeline repairs works on Nigeria’s Forcados feeder line to the export terminal are on track for completion by the end of this month, Minister of State for Petroleum Resources Emmanuel Ibe Kachikwu said on Friday.

The Shell Petroleum Development Nigeria-operated pipeline was taken offline in February following a leak. On Thursday, the company lifted force majeure on exports of the Bonny Light crude grade.

The news follows a string of attacks this week by militant groups, including the Nigeria Delta Avengers. Earlier on Friday, an oil pipeline operated by Eni’s local subsidiary was attacked. The pipeline, the Tebidaba-Brass conduit in Bayelsa, was previously damaged in May. On Thursday, the Avengers also claimed responsibility for attacks on Chevron infrastructure, the second hit on the company’s assets in less than a week.
