HOUSTON, October 8, 2015 – US gas company G2 LNG announced this week that it plans to apply to the Federal Regulatory Commission within the following month for a permit to build a two-train liquefaction facility estimated to be worth $11 billion.

The company has already received approval from the Department of Energy to export LNG to free-trade agreement countries with the US. G2 LNG has applied for permission to export to countries that do not have free-trade agreements with the US.

Once completed, the proposed facility will have a capacity of 14 million tonnes per year and will be located in Louisiana on the Calcasieu River Ship Channel. Pending approval, construction will begin in 2017 with expected delivery in 2020.

“We plan to use advanced technologies in the design and operations of the facility (and) we will use upstream supply of natural gas, both of which will provide a long-term, stable, low-cost supply of natural gas to global customers,” Buddy Roemer, G2 chairman, said in a company statement.
