Gazprom to buy Cameroon LNG
Cameroon YAOUNDE, November 27, 2015 – Russia’s gas giant Gazprom will buy all of the LNG produced from the Cameroon Perenco LNG export plant, slated to begin production in 2017.
The Russian company will buy 1.2 million tonnes of LNG per year from the Cameroonian facility, sources told Reuters
Norwegian shipping company Golar LNG is developing the Perenco project.
Gazprom’s move is part of an expansion of its LNG portfolio, as it eyes a larger role in what it calls a “promising market.”
The company currently exports the commodity to more than 10 countries in Asia, North America and Europe.
