GE Oil & Gas’ DTS business bags Oman services deal

MUSCAT, February 4, 2015 – The Qatar Fertiliser Company (Qafco) has brought on board GE Oil & Gas’ Downstream Technology Solutions (DTS) business for the optimisation of its Mesaieed fertiliser plant, the Times of Oman reported on Tuesday.

The six-year, long-term services contract was signed between Qafco and the Al Shaheen GE Services Company, GE’s joint venture with state-owned Qatar Petroleum, and calls for the maintenance of onsite GE equipment. Additionally, the agreement covers training for Qafco employees and site operators. The value of the deal was not disclosed.

Located in the Mesaieed Industrial City, the Qafco fertiliser plant produces ammonia and urea. GE’s DTS business was founded in February 2014 in order to ensure a more efficient supply of equipment and better-streamlined services.
