GE Vernova wins 49-MW onshore turbine order in Spain
Spain COPENHAGEN, April 8, 2025 – GE Vernova has signed an agreement to supply Spanish renewable asset developer Forestalia with eight 6.1-MW workhorse turbines to power a 49-MW wind project in the Aragón region of Spain, GE Vernova announced on Tuesday.
The deal is part of a 2023 framework agreement between the two companies to support the installation of up to 693 MW of onshore wind turbines across 16 project sites throughout Aragón.
“We are pleased to continue executing on our framework agreement with Forestalia as they work to help meet Spain’s wind energy goals. Our workhorse turbines are well suited to wind conditions in Spain and across Europe, as customers continue to look to wind power to meet energy demand, bolster energy security and support renewable energy goals,” said Gilan Sabatier, GE Vernova’s chief commercial officer of onshore wind.
GE Vernova has two manufacturing facilities in Spain, in Castellón and Ponferrada, and has supplied equipment in the country for a total of approximately 5.9 GW, including 1.5 GW in Aragón, according to the company.
Spain has a goal of installing 62 GW of wind generation capacity by 2030 as part of its plan to generate at least 80% of its electricity from renewable resources.
