TotalEnergies inaugurates 263-MW solar cluster in Spain

SEVILE, May 22, 2025 – TotalEnergies has inaugurated a 263-MW solar plant, the company’s largest in Europe, in Guillena, Spain, the company announced on Thursday.
The development includes five solar projects with 400,000 bifacial solar panels with trackers. Its total generation capacity of 515 GWh per year is equivalent to the power needs of approximately 150,000 households and is estimated to offset 245,000 tonnes per year of carbon dioxide emissions.
Most of the generated power will be sold via long-term power purchase agreements, with the remainder going to the wholesale market.
“We warmly thank the Spanish authorities at both the regional and national levels for supporting this solar project that is contributing to Spain’s ambition of 80% of renewables in its mix by 2030. With our 1,700 employees in Spain, we are building a competitive Integrated power portfolio that combines renewables and flexible gas-fired power plants to deliver clean firm power to our customers,” said TotalEnergies senior vice-president renewables, Olivier Jouny.
As of March 2025, TotalEnergies had 28 GW of gross installed renewable capacity across solar, onshore wind and offshore wind. The company is aiming to reach 35 GW by the end of 2025.
