Ghana builds first offshore gas jumper
ACCRA, May 31, 2018 – Belmet 7 has built Ghana’s first offshore gas jumper, the government announced Wednesday.
The offshore gas jumper was built over three weeks by local welders at Takoradi port, Ghana Ports and Harbors Authority reported.
“It is the first time we have been doing this kind of fabrication here inside Takoradi Port, at Belmet 7 yard. It is the first time also we welded this type of steel, because it is a special alloy. The inside of the pipe is made of stainless steel, whereas the outside of it is carbon steel,” Loic Chateau, the general manager of Belmet 7, said.
