Ghana LNG project under construction

A partner in Ghana’s Tema LNG project has announced the start of construction, international media reported Wednesday.

China Harbour Engineering Company has begun construction work on the marine facilities for the floating regasification unit, Gasfin’s chief executive Roland Fisher told Reuters.

The Tema LNG Terminal company signed a deal with China Harbour Engineering Company on the construction of the Tema LNG facility in September. Jiangnan Shipyard has been tapped to build the floating regasification facility.

The terminal, which is expected to be completed in 18 months, is set to be the first regasification terminal in sub-Saharan Africa. Tema LNG will be situated 12 kilometres off the coast of Tema. Initial capacity will be around 1.75 million tpy of LNG.
