Ghana LPG jetty breaks down

ACCRA, June 5, 2018 – Operations of the LPG jetty at Tema port have been suspended due to breakage, local media reported Monday.

The damage to the marine loading arm was caused by a heavy rainstorm, Daily Guide reported.

The Ghana Ports and Harbour Authority is working with engineers at the shipyard to repair the damage.

“As a government, we are very responsive and proactive, that is why we have moved in quickly to restore the arm so they can resume the offloading of LPG,” Deputy Minister of Energy Mohammed Amin Adams said. “But I want to assure the people of Ghana that we will not have shortage of LPG. There are alternative routes that [the] government is going to activate through the NPA [National Petroleum Authority] to ensure that we continue to supply LPG to the market.”
