Ghana suspends 8 oil product firms for tax evasion

ACCRA, July 25, 2018 – Ghana’s National Petroleum Authority has suspended eight oil marketing and bulk distribution companies for tax evasion, local media reported Tuesday.

 

The companies have been suspended from one to three months for “for their involvement in activities that led to the loss of tax revenue to the government of Ghana,” according to a statement from the institution.

The companies are banned from sale, supply, transportation, discharge and receipt of petroleum products during the suspension, GhanaWeb news portal reported.

Union Oil Ghana, Agapet, Excel Oil Company, Misyl Energy Company and Globex Energy Company have been suspended for one month. Petro Afrique Company, Life Petroleum Company and Unique Company have been suspended for three months.
