GNPC starts exploration in Volta district

NOC Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC) has started oil exploration in the Nkwanta North District in Ghana’s Volta region, local media reported on Tuesday.

The district includes parts of the Voltaian Basin, believed to be rich in hydrocarbons, Daily Guide Africa reported. The basin spans more than 100,000 square kilometres.

The news came weeks after GNPC announced plans to drill in 16 different districts in the Northern region.
