Golfinho licence extended for BW Energy in Brazil
RIO DE JANEIRO, April 3, 2025 – Brazilian oil and gas regulator ANP has approved an extension to BW Energy’s production licence in the Golfinho concession offshore Brazil, BW Energy announced on Wednesday.
The end date for the production phase under the Golfinho concession has been extended from 2031 to 2042 following ANP’s approval of BW Energy’s field development plan in November 2024.
“The extension supports our long-term plans for developing the Golfinho field, initially through improved operational performance of existing infrastructure and later targeting several proven low-risk in-field development opportunities. We see a significant potential for long-term value creation at Golfinho” said Carl K. Arnet, CEO of BW Energy.
Golfinho field is located in the Espírito Santo Basin in water depths between 1,300 and 2,200 metres. BW Energy is the operator with a 100% interest after acquiring the Golfinho and Camarupim clusters in August 2023. The acreage has six producing wells tied to the Cidade de Vitória FPSO, which BW Energy acquired from Saipem in 2023.
Golfinho’s reserves are predominantly oil and are estimated to total 40.3 million boe. The field has been producing since 2027 from the FPSO Cidade de Vitória, from where oil is offloaded to shuttle tankers and gas is piped to the Cacimbas Gas Treatment Unit onshore.
