ATHENS, November 30, 2023 – Greece is expected to quadruple gas export potential by the end of 2030, Deputy Minister of Environment and Energy Alexandra Sdoukou announced on Wednesday at the 23rd World LNG Summit in Athens.

The minister highlighted upcoming infrastructure developments such as the Alexandroupoli floating LNG terminal, increasing capacity of the Trans-Adriatic Pipeline and the upcoming Greece-North Macedonia pipeline.

Additionally, Sdoukou said recent estimates for gas deposits in Greece are being confirmed and have the potential for the country to also become a supplier of natural gas to the region.

According to the cabinet member, the next stage is a vertical natural gas corridor from Greece to Moldova and Ukraine.

Official capacity commitments for the corridor from interested parties in the region are expected to be announced in mid-2024.

Previously in November, Seatrium delivered Greece’s first FSRU to be deployed at the Alexandroupoli floating LNG terminal.

The Alexandroupoli project is expected to be commissioned at the beginning of 2024.
