Guyana seeks partners in new 30,000-bopd refinery

GEORGETOWN, October 19, 2022 – The Guyanese government has launched a tender for the design and financing of a 30,000-bopd refinery, Reuters announced on Monday.

The state has set a mid-December 2022 deadline for requests and plans to introduce incentives for the development, including a 10-year tax holiday for those involved and wholly private shares in the venture.

The country’s first refinery will be located near Berbice River in the East Berbice-Corentyne region.

Construction is expected to begin in H1 2023, with completion set for 2025.

Currently, Guyana’s oil and gas production of nearly 400,000 bpd is being exported.
