ABU DHABI, October 18, 2022 – Abu Dhabi National Energy Company (TAQA) has targeted a 25% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions by 2030 from 2019 levels, the state-owned integrated energy company announced on Thursday.

The goal is part of the company’s 2030 ESG strategy and covers scope 1 and scope 2 emissions. It involves all of the group’s activities, including in Europe and the Middle East.

As part of the strategy, the company will cut down carbon emissions from its UAE operations on the same timeframe by 33%.

Additionally, the new plan will boost renewables to cover 30% of the company’s power generation portfolio.

TAQA also plans to reduce losses in water distribution by 25% from a 2021 baseline and expand reverse technology osmosis to make up two thirds of its desalination operations by 2030.
