Halliburton wins multiple Petrobras contracts offshore Brazil
RIO DE JANEIRO, October 16, 2025 – Petrobras has awarded Halliburton multiple contracts for vessel stimulation, intelligent completions and safety valves for Brazil’s deepwater fields, the company said on Wednesday.
In the Búzios field, Halliburton will deploy intelligent completion systems for real-time reservoir management and production optimisation. In the Sépia and Atapu fields, the company will supply electric tubing retrievable safety valves to enhance project safety and efficiency.
Stimulation services will be delivered via the vessel Stim Star Brasil, designed for Petrobras’ operations, with a focus on boosting reservoir productivity and asset performance.
“These awards demonstrate our longstanding relationship in Brazil and support our global strategy to improve asset value and safety through our completions services,” said Shawn Stasiuk, senior vice-president of Halliburton Completion and Production.
The contracts are set to begin in 2026.
Located approximately 180 kilometres offshore Rio de Janeiro in the Santos Basin, the Búzios field is Brazil’s largest in terms of reserves and the country’s second-largest in terms of production volumes. Operated by Petrobras, it houses four offshore production platforms and two FPSOs.
The Atapu and Sépia fields, also located off the Rio de Janeiro coastline, have been in production since 2020 and 2021, respectively.
