India’s ONGC awards multi-well deal

LONDON, April 6, 2017 – Drilling company Greka has been tapped to drill 73 coalbed methane wells for ONGC on its Bokaro asset, the Chinese independent announced on Thursday.

The company, which specialises in digging unconventional oil and gas wells, beat 16 competitors to the three-year integrated drilling deal.

Greka will utilise the semi-automated GD75 drilling unit for the job, estimated to be worth USD 15 million in total.

“While the Company has already demonstrated its expertise in India for its existing client, Essar Oil Limited, the winning of the ONGC tender against 16 other well established drilling contractors is a confirmation of Greka Drilling’s mastery within the coal bed methane niche,” Chairman and CEO Randeep S. Grewal said in a press release.
