Iran boost ties with Indonesia, Azerbaijan

TEHRAN, August 8, 2016 – Pertamina signed a memorandum of understanding with the National Iranian Oil Company on Monday that will see the Indonesian state-owned energy company conduct oilfield development studies.

Inked by Ali Kardor and his Petramina counterpart Dwi Soetjipto, another component of the MoU will be knowledge transfer. “Iran’s oil industry has been chiefly focused on knowledge transfer and seek interactions with international companies in the industry,” Kardor was quoted by Shana as saying.

Pertamina work towards studying the Abteimour and Mansouri fields, as Indonesia will want to import crude from Iran in the future, according to Soetjipto.

On Sunday, President Hassan Rouhani signalled greater co-operation with Azerbaijan on oil and gas activity in the Caspian Sea. Speaking at a press conference with President Ilham Aliyev, Rouhani said a future MoU would be an “important step towards [the] promotion of Tehran-Baku relations.”
