Iran, Iraq in crude swaps

Iran

TEHRAN, June 4, 2018 – Iraq has started shipping oil from the disputed area near the northern city of Kirkuk to Iran, Iranian state agency Shana reported on Sunday.

Between 30,000 and 60,000 bopd are being transported by tanker trucks from Kirkuk, which the Iraqi army captured from forces loyal to the Kurdistan Regional Government in October 2017, in exchange for a similar amount transferred by Iran to Iraq’s southern ports, Reuters added in a separate report.

The Kirkuk crude will feed Iranian refineries and a pipeline is expected to replace the road link in the future, the reports added.
