Italy discusses oil and gas and mining with Saudi Arabia

Italy is exploring co-operation with Saudi Arabia in oil and gas and mining, Reuters reported on Monday.

Italian Minister of Enterprises and Made in Italy Adolfo Urso is visiting the Arabian Peninsula this week with meetings set with Saudi Arabia, Qatar and the UAE.

He met with Khalid Al Saalem, president of the Royal Commission for Jubail & Yanbu, in Riyadh on Monday alongside representatives from Italy’s tire manufacturer Pirelli, engineering and technology giant Maire Tecnimont and cable manufacturer Prysmian.

The countries discussed partnering in oil and gas, mining, defence, automotives, hydrogen and space sectors.

“Italy and Saudi Arabia are committed to developing a regulatory and industrial framework that favours and accelerates strategic autonomy in the critical raw materials sector,” Urso said.

“We explored the possibility of partnerships and joint investments especially in the mining sector, both in our respective countries and in third areas, such as the African continent.”
