Kazakhstan readies for third oil and gas bid round in 2023

Kazakhstan

ASTANA, October 16, 2023 – Kazakhstan has set plans for a third oil and gas bid round in 2023, Upstream Online reported on Friday.

The round will include four fields and 14 acreages in onshore provinces with existing producing infrastructure including the Mangistau, Atyrau and Aktobe plays.

The government has highlighted the Doschan field as a key prospect. The concession carries an initial starting bid of USD 430,000.

The round also includes the Zhamansu field and the unexplored 5,000-square-kilometre Kendala North block known for its uranium deposits.

The new bid round will be held on December 20, 2023, with applicants required to register and pay a deposit before December 11, 2023.

The round will introduce new terms to counter problems in past bid rounds where participants could not pay the price of their winning bid.
