Kuwait commissions key Jurassic gas facilities: report

KUWAIT CITY, February 21, 2024 – Kuwait has commissioned the Jurassic Production Facilities 4 and 5, which will raise its production of natural gas by 50%, local media reported on Monday.

JPF-4 and JPF-5 each have the capacity to handle production of 4.53 mcm (160 mcf) per day of non-associated gas and 50,000 bopd of light oil.

The facilities will increase Kuwait’s gas production from 17.8 mcm (630 mcf) to around 27 mcm (950 mcf) per day “in the near future,” according to a statement Kuwait Oil Company released to local media.

Contracts for the facilities’ construction were awarded in December 2021. The USD 378-million JPF-4 contract went to SPETCO, while the USD 423-million JPF-5 contract went to Jereh Oil and Gas Engineering Co.
